Sashi’s surname – Perera – means pear tree in Portuguese. You won’t believe how mad Portugal gets if you mention why it’s a super common name in Sri Lanka.

Pear Tree is a stand-up comedy show about pear shaped events between Sri Lanka and Australia. It’s about family, love, homes, knives, kids and cats – spliced with a bit of geopolitics and singing. As with her last show Boundaries (now on YouTube) Sashi’s signature observations remain dedicated to taking absolutely nothing too seriously.

ABOUT SASHI PERERA

Sashi Perera is a Sri Lankan-Australian comedian, writer, and recovering lawyer. After working with refugee organisations around the globe, she moved to Melbourne to pursue her masters and fell into comedy. She's now one of Australia's fastest rising comedians with a rapidly growing international presence.

In 2023, she was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Since then, she has sold out shows across six countries, opened for Hannah Gadsby, and made numerous television appearances including Channel 10's Have You Been Paying Attention and ABC's Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont Spelling Bee.

Her debut memoir Standstill was published by Penguin Random House in August 2025. With over 60 million views across social media and a dedicated global fanbase, Sashi brings authentic cross-cultural storytelling and comedic brilliance to every performance.

Once sold, tickets are strictly non-refundable or exchangeable unless there is  a closure of event/s. All information given is correct at the time of publishing, but is subject to change without prior notice. The Promoter reserves all rights to amend any terms and conditions without prior notice, and, in the event of any dispute, the Promoter’s decision is final.

The event will be approximately 90 minutes.
There will be no intermission for this event.


General

Mobile phones must be switched off or switched to silent mode in the theatre;
Patrons are required to follow all house rules and regulations set out by the venue. The House Rules are displayed within the venue premises;
No food and drinks are allowed in the venue.


Photography / Videography Recording Rules

No unauthorized cameras to capture photographs and video recording are allowed. Anyone using any unauthorized device that was not cleared for media capture during the show will be asked to step out of the theatre.
